Business Briefings
Designed specifically to help your assignees understand the cultural differences and increase their skills for dealing effectively with associates, partners and/or clients in the host country is critical to the business’ success. Participants are provided the tools to:
- Understand important events and values that shape host country nationals, the political systems and the manner in which business is conducted today.
- Examine the concept of culture and how cultural differences affect business practices in the host country.
- Discuss ways of anticipating and preventing conflict in the host country and the impact on leadership and training styles.
- Identify key values which shape business culture in target countries.
- Develop insight into the business and social protocol in the host country including communication styles, business meetings and negotiations.
- Increase self
- awareness regarding personal values, motivations and communication styles and increase awareness of how personal attributes are perceived and responded to by colleagues, providers and clients.
International Team Building
This program has been specifically developed to address the ever growing international and culturally diverse teams that have grown within the expanding global workplace. The program is designed to provide employees with the skills and tools to improve intercultural communication and collaboration, create cultural awareness, strengthen relationships and bridge the cultural gaps between employees based in different locations.
Language Training
ARSI coordinates language lessons in either the home or host location for the assignee and designated family members. Programs are developed to align with the participant’s proficiency, objectives and intended application in the new location.
Youth Programs
Recognizing the importance of the family’s children in decisions regarding global assignments, special programs are available that address the concerns of children facing an international move. These programs are individually designed following a detailed needs assessment allowing for individual concerns to be addressed.
Cross Cultural Training
Cross Cultural Training Programs are designed and customized to enable assignees and accompanying family members to:
- Learn vital information about your host country: One or two day programs provide information on the new environment and how to meet daily needs, a review of historical events that shaped the culture and regulations, protocol and techniques for doing business.
- Understand the role of culture: Participants will learn the differences in home and host country cultures and how these differences effect communication and business transactions.
- Develop skills for successful adaptation to living and working in the host country: Participants learn the competencies for effective cross-cultural adaptation and successful expatriation and how to identify and manage the symptoms of culture shock.
The program content combines materials and sessions especially designed to fit the learning style, age and experience of the participant. Information and activities related to life in the host country are stressed and include the following topics:
- How to make friends in the new country
- Discussion of their feelings regarding the up-coming move
- Discussion on types of recreational activities available in the host location
- Returning to school in the home country after having lived overseas
- Skills the participant can use to fit back into their home culture
Repatriation Training
Often overlooked, these programs are designed to address the complex and difficult reentry problems faced by all assignees and families upon their return from an overseas assignment. Some reentry issues faced are:
- Unfamiliarity with the corporate structure in the home office
- Family adjustment issues, including question of identity
- Financial problems and concern
- Lack of acceptance by new colleagues
- Loss of autonomy and independence
- Spousal issues – returning to dual careers
Repatriation programs assist companies, their assignees and families prepare for their return to the home country, ensuring a smooth, productive and successful transition
